When conventional tools fail to do the trick, sometimes it takes bread…
Sometimes you must look to unorthodox solutions when repairing a pump. Smith Pump repair tech Kenny displayed just that when he found bearing pullers were not enough to remove a bearing stuck within a submersible pumps motor housing. Thinking quickly, he remembered an old trick.
Placing bread inside of the bearing and using a tool slightly smaller than the ID of the bearing, he was able to force the bread down and behind the bearing.
Eventually the bread was able to push the bearing out of the housing. Here you can see the remnants of the bread with the imprint of the removed bearing.
