Smith Pump Completes the Fit Test for a Project for the City of Dallas

September 2016:  Smith Pump completes the Fit Test on a large flood control pump project for the City of Dallas.  Pump motors and gear boxes were pre-assembled on their support structure at Smith’s – Waco shop to check shaft alignment and machining accuracy.  The 3750hp motors drive pumps through the gearbox at 207rpm.  One of four units are shown in the photo with Chris Thompson, project manager.  Once aligned, each component is dowelled and match-marked.  Prior to shipment everything will be disassembled and remounted on their shipping skids.  Pump operation is scheduled for 2017.
